I do not like what Palin stands for...I think it is great what she has done...I oppose everything she stands for.

So my vote is going to Obama/Biden.

Keep thinking what Bush (both George and his brother Jeb) have done to education...NCLB is not very fair and they both have reduced money towards education.

I'm with Kristi: anybody else running?? I don't trust either one of them at all. The McCain-Feingold campaign finance laws are just a thinly-veiled gag on 1st ammendment rights: McCain clearly doesn't value the Constitution the way that the president should. And Obama scares me for the reasons the others gave and more. Particlarly the abortion thing. That's just wrong.

Both of them scare the living daylights out of me. Why is it after all the money put into our election systems, we couldn't get a single candidate that could actually do the job right and care about EVERYONE'S interest. Is there an independent that I could waste my vote on?

I don't have a special needs child, but...

My oldest two children (technically my step-children) have a brother with Autism and Muscular Dystrophy. His dad is in the military, and his mom has had to fight every step of the way for appropriate care for her son. He lost his ability to walk years too early because of their failure to diagnose the Muscular Dystrophy. If that's how the government does healthcare, I don't want them in charge of my health.

In other countries with socialized medicine it's the patient who loses out. In Canada patients die from cancers that are hardly ever fatal here because they can't get in to see a doctor. Patients there wait between 2 to 24 weeks for simple *ultrasounds* -- here in Houston I can go to any local hospital and have an ultrasound within hours. I know, because during my last pregnancy I showed up completely unannounced at a local hospital, without a doctor's referral, and received an ultrasound simply to put my mind at ease over a 21 week baby who hadn't begun to kick, yet. I did not have insurance, either.

In the UK, Charlotte Wyatt's parents have been fighting for four years against a medical system that just wants to let her die. In the Netherlands doctors can even outright kill children and adults whose lives they feel are not worth living -- even over the patient's objections.

Not only does Obama support socialized medicine, he ardently pro-abortion, supporting a system that seeks to kill disabled children before they are even born.

McCain isn't perfect. I certainly wouldn't have chosen him to run on the Republican ticket. But Obama? Never!

Our household is split on this topic, my husband likes McCain & Palin mainly for the gun laws--
But- I like Obama -- I think that Obama will see issues about special kids and their families-- as important.
(I like Palin, but I cannot see McCain as a good thing for the country)

My thought....it's added some excitement to the election, but it hasn't changed a thing about my vote. I was never considering voting for Obama. I have a husband in the miltary and 2 children with disabilities who need appropriate health care....no way do I want Obama in office!

Socialized medicine - national healthcare - whatever you call it will not be friendly to our precious children. Once care begins to be rationed, which it will, they will be on the losing end. For this reason, among others, Obama was never a consideration for me. I'm so tickled that McCain picked Sarah Palin. Now I can get excited about supporting McCain!

My thoughts? IDEA or not, Obama was NEVER going to get my vote. He's evil. Not really a fan of McCain, but Palin just gave me something to get excited about. :)
